Following the departure of Gareth Pritchard in 2015, Markham & District Band announced the appointment of Matthew Rowe as their new MD.

 

The talented young Cornishman is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff and is also the solo euphonium of Tongwynlais Band.

 

Matt led the band to victory at the SEWBBA contest in Merthyr in November 2015, meaning that we claimed the overall Welsh League title in the first section, thus progressing to the Championship section for 2016, during the 2016 contesting year Matt has experienced several good results in front of the Band.

Matts maturity and work ethic is superb and the band respond very well to him, his reputation is growing as an MD having now been asked to lead other bands in addition to his commitments with Markham.
